Of all the seismic changes in the world of daily newspapers since I landed my first gig in 1984, cutting the number of days in print surely ranks as the most significant.

I’m a digital media devotee, but still hold the printed product near and dear to my heart – literally every day. I  want to believe a majority of newspaper readers feel the same way, but recognize the demand is waning.  Christine Haughney’s article in Monday’s New York Times quotes a number of seasoned newspaper executives and industry analysts who believe publishing papers only on certain days while driving readers to papers’ online sites is the rocky wave of the future.
